How far does a Sonoma County restaurant lover have to travel for a multi-course wine-paired dinner prepared by James Beard caliber celebrity chefs? If you’re in Wine Country on Saturday, Aug. 5, that answer is: Healdsburg.
That evening, the James Beard Foundation’s Celebrity Chef Tour comes to Lambert Bridge winery on Dry Creek Road, bringing a rare peek inside a James Beard House New York City dinner as it travels to more than 20 cities across the country.
Lambert Bridge is one of only a few stops the Tour makes in Northern California, and the only stop in Sonoma County.
Preparing the elaborate supper are a group of top Sonoma County James Beard caliber chefs including Duskie Estes of Zazu Kitchen + Farm in Sebastopol, Erik Johnson of The Trading Post
Restaurant in Cloverdale, Shane McAnelly of Chalkboard Restaurant in Healdsburg, Scott Romano of Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg, and Dustin Valette of Valette Restaurant in Healdsburg.
Leading the merry group is host chef Renaud Kolpin, of Relish Culinary School in Healdsburg. A rising star, Kolpin learned to cook with his parents who influenced him with their French heritage and their extensive travels to Asia. He trained at the California Culinary Academy and has worked at restaurants in San Francisco, including Beetlenut, Postrio, and Embarko. He was chef de cuisine at Bistro Ralph in Healdsburg for several years, and is now a freelance caterer and private chef.
The menu is still in the planning stages, but it’s guaranteed to be a showstopper, featuring an array of seasonal, local specialties prepared in inventive ways. Each of the chefs in the collaborative meal is known for his or her creative, artistic preparations.
As with all the significant James Beard Foundation events honoring the prestigious culinary organization, guests will enjoy a walk-around tasting and cocktail reception, followed by a star-studded supper.
In another bonus, the evening ends with an interactive chef Q&A session with the chefs.
